A Great Lakes beach summer destination is St. Joseph, Michigan. If you are looking to enjoy a picnic, take a walk on the pier, or simply enjoy being on the beach of Lake Michigan, then one of the best Great Lakes beach summer destinations is in St. Joseph, Michigan. 
St. Joseph features a very classy shopping district that is adjacent to the beach, which includes retail shops, ice cream parlors, coffee shops and restaurants. The brick sidewalks, public art work and sculpture will charm you with this Great Lakes beach summer destination.
When visiting, be sure to take your camera, and some good comfortable walking shoes, and perhaps a picnic basket. Dr
inking alcohol is prohibited in the beach park. A Great Lakes beach summer destination like St. Joseph also is a sailing destination, and it you will most likely see sailboats coming in and out of the harbor.
The beach is a wonderful place to enjoy a swim, build a sand castle or walk barefoot through the sand. Not only is this a Great Lakes beach summer destination, but on the pier you will often see fishermen, young and old, trying to make their catch of the week.
The pier has various points along its length for securing your fishing pole, setting up a chair and relaxing while you fish and enjoy the view. There is also a very nice pavilion, where summer events and concerts are sometimes held. You can also enjoy a sunset on the water, and see some of natures spectacular beauty!
St. Joseph, a Great Lakes beach summer destination, is located about an hour and 30 minute drive from Battle Creek. It is close enough for an afternoon excursion, and a great place to introduce someone visiting Michigan to a Great Lakes beach summer destination. 
St. Joseph is one of my favorite places to visit when I have out of town guests. If going in the spring or fall, be sure to take a light jacket or sweater along with you. St. Joseph is a Great Lakes beach summer destination worth visiting. It is one of my favorite haunts during the summer months, and it usually gives me a chance to break away from the daily work routine and see a fun place along Michigan's Great Lakes coastline! Well worth the visit! Remember, to take your camera and your fishing pole!
