The Battle Creek Revolution hockey team offers some exciting entertainment for an evening, if you enjoy watching fast action sports. They play in downtown at the ice rink, also known as ‘Revolution Arena'. They
draw a regular following of fans from around the area, and one learns that if you are going to go that you arrive early to enjoy the pre-game warm-up.
The Battle Creek Revolution hockey team is part of the All-American Hockey League, which is single ‘A' professional hockey. The league is a small one, consisting of a total of six teams right now. The Battle Creek Revolution's record is currently 20 wins, 4 losses as of the publishing of this article for the 2010-11 season. Regardless of the league size however, many of the players are quite skilled and will move up and on to larger leagues. Many already have in recent years.
I have been attending the Battle Creek Revolution hockey games since 2009, when I first ventured into the ice rink to see what it was all about. I took my little brother with me, as I am an active volunteer in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program here in Battle Creek.
The Battle Creek Revolution hockey team coordinators incorporate a lot of things for young children to do as
part of the evening. They are able to be involved in interactive games on the ice between periods, which can be anything from tricycle races to taking shots at a goal. The concession stands offer the traditional hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza and nachos, as well as all soda, beer, coffee and everyone's favorite: hot chocolate.
I produced two videos from the two recent games I attended, and have included them here. Both are radically different.
The first was a high scoring game where the Battle Creek Revolution dominated the other team, who was not too aggressive. They won that game 12-4.
The second game I shot was a complete contrast, with two teams that were equally aggressive and challenged each other. There were two fights at the game, and a lot of great physical hockey. The Battle Creek Revolution won this one 7-2.
